Given below are two statements: One is labelled as Assertion (A) and the other is labelled as Reason (R)

Assertion (A): Nephrons are of two types: Cortical & Juxta medullary, based on their relative position in cortex and medulla.

Reason (R): Juxta medullary nephrons have short loop of Henle whereas, cortical nephrons have longer loop of Henle.

In light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below.

Option A:
Both $\mathbf{A}$ and $\mathbf{R}$ are true but $\mathbf{R}$ is NOT the correct explanation of $\mathbf{A}$ .
Option B:
$\mathbf{A}$ is true but $\mathbf{R}$ is false.

$\mathbf{A}$ is false but $\mathbf{R}$ is true.
Option D:
Both $\mathbf{A}$ and $\mathbf{R}$ are true and $\mathbf{R}$ is the correct explanation of $\mathbf{A}$ .

The correct answer is option (2) because Assertion is true as there are two types of nephrons, i.e.,

cortical nephrons and juxtamedullary nephrons based on their relative position in the cortex and

medulla. Reason is not correct as loop of Henle in juxtamedullary nephrons is very long and runs

deep into the medulla. Therefore, Assertion is true but Reason is false.
