NEET (UG) 2025 — Question 10

AB is a part of an electrical circuit (see figure). The potential difference " VA−VB\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{A}}-\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{B}} ", at the instant when current i=2 A\mathrm{i}=2 \mathrm{~A} and is increasing at a rate of 1amp/1 \mathrm{amp} / second is :

  1. Option A:

    5 volt

  2. Option B:

    6 volt

  3. Option C:

    9 volt

  4. Option D:

    10 volt

    Correct

Answer: D

Step-by-step solution

Apply K.V.L.

VA−LdIdt−5−IR=VB\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{A}}-\frac{\mathrm{LdI}}{\mathrm{dt}}-5-\mathrm{IR}=\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{B}}

VA−VB=LdIdt+5+IR\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{A}}-\mathrm{V}_{\mathrm{B}}=\frac{\mathrm{LdI}}{\mathrm{dt}}+5+\mathrm{IR}

=1×1+5+2×2=1 \times 1+5+2 \times 2

=1+5+4=1+5+4

=10 V=10 \mathrm{~V}
