JEE Advanced 2022 — Paper 1 — Question 41

If the reaction sequence given below is carried out with 15 moles of acetylene, the amount of the product D formed (in gg ) is ________\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ -. The yields of A,B,C\mathbf{A}, \mathbf{B}, \mathbf{C} and D\mathbf{D} are given in parentheses.[0pt] [Given: Atomic mass of H=1,C=12,O=16,Cl=35\mathrm{H}=1, \mathrm{C}=12, \mathrm{O}=16, \mathrm{Cl}=35 ]

Answer: 136

Numerical answer — enter this value.

Step-by-step solution

Molecular weight =C8H8O2=\mathrm{C}_{8} \mathrm{H}_{8} \mathrm{O}_{2} =12×8+1×8+16×2=96+8+32=136=12 \times 8+1 \times 8+16 \times 2=96+8+32=136

Moles of product (D) formed =153×0.8×0.5×0.5=33=1∴=\frac{15}{3} \times 0.8 \times 0.5 \times 0.5=\frac{3}{3}=1 \therefore

Weight of product (D)=1×136=136 g(D)=1 \times 136=136 \mathrm{~g}
